‘Driver Agent’ sees Formula E and Google Cloud work together to bring data to all drivers

New advanced AI technology has been developed to bridge the data access gap for up and coming drivers

Formula E and Google Cloud have furthered their AI collaboration to develop an accessible technology, allowing more race drivers to utilise performance analytics.

The Driver Agent is aimed at levelling the playing field to grant access to advanced AI data – including lap times, speed, braking, acceleration and downforce – to drivers at all levels.

Formula E has worked with Google Cloud on several different projects, including an AI hackathon event during last season’s London E-Prix that was shortlisted in the Pioneering & Innovation category at the 2025 Autosport Awards.

Powered by Google Cloud’s Vertex AI platform as well as Gemini, Google’s large language model, the Driver Agent will provide real-time feedback, delivered to drivers via text or audio coaching to help hone their craft.

"Formula E has always been a platform for innovation, and we are thrilled to partner with Google Cloud to push the boundaries of what's possible when you combine world-class technology with world-class motorsport,” said Formula E’s vice president of sporting, Beth Paretta.

"By developing and offering these cutting-edge tools, we are helping to create a future where racing talent is determined by skill, not resources, enabling a more diverse pool of drivers, especially women, to rise to the very top of our sport."

As part of the Driver Agent initiative, Google Cloud is also teaming up with More than Equal, the organisation that finds young female drivers with high potential and aims to develop female talent in motorsport.

The collaboration will see Driver Agent technology made available for the More than Equal driver development programme as well as access to simulators at Manchester Metropolitan University.

"The introduction of Driver Agent is going to be a game changer for drivers on and off the track," said Barnaby Voss, Google Cloud’s UKI & EMEA marketing director.

"By democratising access to this high-level performance data, the Driver Agent enables drivers of all backgrounds to refine their skills and improve on the track, regardless of resources or team size."
